Sue BD Stables Policies & Information
BOARDER INFORMATION:
- Barn hours are 8AM to 9:30PM.
- All horses must have current negative coggins.
- All horses must have a current health record on file. It is the horse owner's responsibility to keep records current.
- All horses must be wormed every other month. Worming must be done no later than the 10th day of the month and recorded in the health record. Failure to do so will result in the horse owner being charged $25 for the stable to worm your horse.
- All horses must be vaccinated twice a year. This includes West Nile Vaccination. If you do not participate in "Vet Day", you will be responsible for scheduling your own spring and fall vaccinations.
- Board is due the first day of each month. No post dated checks will be accepted. A late fee of $1.00 per day is charged after the 10th of the month. If over 20 days late, the late fee becomes $25.00. Failure to pay board in full after 30 days will result in your being given 30 days notice to vacate the premises and the necessary steps will be taken against you to collect all board fees due.
- NO SMOKING anytime, anywhere on Sue BD property. NO EXCEPTIONS.
- NO ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES OR INTOXICATED PERSONS ALLOWED ON THE PROPERTY.
- Boarders schedule their farrier for their horse. Boarders pay their farrier at the time of service. Checks can be left with Susan for the farrier. Please note: there is a catching and holding fee of $25 if you are unable to make your farrier appointment. Please make arrangements through Susan.
- Stalled horses are not to be turned out in to pastures and pastured horses are not to be put in stalls.
- Horses cannot be left free to graze. You must be at the other end of the lead rope.
- Do not ride when the trails are wet. If your horse is leaving divots it is too wet to ride. When in doubt-ask.
- All guests of boarders must fill out a release form. Children under 18 years of age must have a parent or legal guardian sign a release form on their behalf.
- All riders under 18 years of age MUST wear a helmet at all times when working with any horse on the property.
- All riders over 18 years of age are encouraged to wear a helmet when engaging in equine activities.
- Proper riding attire is required when taking a lesson from a SueBD instructor.
- School horses are not available to rent as they are only to be used for lesson purposes.
- Do not feed treats or pet other people's horses.
- Drive slow on Sue BD property.
- Turn off all lights when finished. This includes lounge, tack rooms, alleys, arena, restrooms and outside lights. Last one to leave locks the lounge.
- Clean up after your horse. This includes grooming debris, manure, hoof trimmings, etc. Clean up any manure left in the arenas, parking lot and between the barns.
- The barn phone is not for personal use.
- Office is for staff use only.
- No parking past the south end of the arena barn. Do not park your car where it will block the lane leading past the paddocks.
- Do not clean your boots in the lounge. If you track in mud, clean it up.
- No arena reservations.
- Do not stand on arena gates.
- Do not help yourself to grain, hay or shavings. You must furnish your own supplies if you plan to take your horse to a show, trail ride, etc.
- Do not borrow other boarders tack or supplies.
- Keep your tack space neat and respect your fellow boarders by not overflowing into their space.
- Lesson tack and grooming supplies are for lesson horses only.
- No one is allowed in the hay lofts or on bales stacked in arena barn.
- NO DOGS.
- Only Sue BD instructors are allowed to give lessons or training.
- Supplements, special grain, extra feedings, meds, etc., are an additional charge. Please contact Susan.
- Barn workers are here to care for your horse. They are not here for individual tasks for boarders. If you need a horse brought in, held for the vet or farrier, etc., there will be a fee. Contact Susan.
- Do not invade the Duncan's privacy by calling Susan at her house or knocking on her door unless it is an absolute emergency. To contact her regarding barn business, send an email, leave a note in her mailbox or leave a message on her cell phone 816-805-5744. Should you require a response, she will try to get back to you within 24 hours.
